Does your design include heavy, expensive gears sitting in an oil bath? Consider a synchronous belt drive alternative. Gates product advancements (such as new carbon tensile cord, advanced polymer body, and unique tooth profile) typically allow 8:1 and lower gear ratios in a similar space as gears. Synchronous belt drives run more smoothly, and allow greater flexibility between input and output shafts. They require no lubrication and little maintenance.
